7. Aliases and forwarding
An alias is a second address that lands in your existing mailbox. Forwarding sends a copy on to another address. Both are set up in your webmail, and neither costs you an extra mailbox.
These two are often confused, and choosing the right one saves you paying for mailboxes you do not need.
7.1 An alias
An alias is an extra address that delivers into a mailbox you already have. If you have [email protected], you might add [email protected] as an alias — both arrive in the same inbox, and you can send from either. You can have as many aliases as you like.
7.2 Forwarding
Forwarding passes a copy of incoming mail on to a different address, including an address somewhere else entirely. It is useful when someone needs to see mail sent to a shared address without being given the password. You can set up to twenty forwarding addresses.
7.3 Which do you want?
- A second address for yourself, or a general address like info@ or bookings@ → alias.
- Mail that needs to reach a different person or an outside address → forwarding.
- Someone who needs their own inbox, their own password, and to send as themselves → that is a separate mailbox. Ask us and we will set it up.
7.4 Setting them up
Both live in Settings inside webmail, under the tabs for aliases and forwarding on the account. If you would rather not do it yourself, tell us the address you want and where it should go, and we will take care of it.
