1. What the tools on your site do
Your website has a handful of built-in tools: a page editor, forms, posts, and stats. Everything else — security, backups, speed — runs by itself and needs nothing from you.
When you sign in to your website you will see a menu down the left-hand side. Most of it you will never need. This is the short version of what matters.
1.1 The ones you might use
- Pages — the fixed parts of your site: your home page, your services, your contact details.
- Posts — dated updates such as news, offers, or announcements.
- Forms — your contact and enquiry forms, and the messages people have sent through them.
- Stats — how many people visited and what they looked at.
- Media — the images and files used across your site.
1.2 The ones that run themselves
You will also see tools for security, backups, speed, spam filtering, and search. These are ours to operate. They work continuously in the background, and they need nothing from you — no scheduled clicking, no settings to keep an eye on. If one of them needs attention, we deal with it and tell you what happened.
1.3 What you should not change
Please leave anything to do with updates, security, or the site’s settings alone, and do not install or remove plugins. Not because you would break something irreparably — that is what backups are for — but because those areas are the ones we are accountable for, and surprise changes make it harder for us to keep that promise.
1.4 When in doubt, ask
There is no such thing as a question too small. If you are unsure whether something is yours to change, ask first — it takes us a moment to answer and saves undoing things later.
